Aberdeen City Centre Walking Tour (2pm)

Lovely tour of the most significant buildings and areas in the centre - interesting stories and background. V reasonable cost and easy walking. Loved the public art pieces many of which we certainly would not have seen / noticed outwith the tour. Highly recommended!

We found out about numerous people and events that happened in the city that we knew nothing about despite living not far away.
Our guide was friendly, enthusiastic and really interesting.

We were shown round by Dave, an Aberdonian who knew his city and clearly loved it. The walk took in the old and the new as well as some unfathomable planning decisions! It was just the right length and has made us want to come back and visit the various museums as well as Old Aberdeen. Dave had an interesting anecdote or memory at each stop as well as a few words in Doric to liven things up. I would recommend these tours as a great way to get to know Aberdeen and I’m only sorry we didn’t get to spend longer there.

Brilliant way to spend a Sunday afternoon. It completely transformed my first impressions of the city. The guide was very pleasant and knowledgeable, skillfully blending distant history with current events and culture to create a well rounded picture of Aberdeen and its people.

The guide, Steph, was engaging, knowledgeable, and has a wonderful sense of humor. She shared a delightful mix of information and stories about Aberdeen’s history, architecture and art, especially street art, with an emphasis on “Nuart.” The time with Steph was well spent and memorable. So glad I got to meet her and see Aberdeen with her.

We didn’t take the tour! We got in to Aberdeen at 0130a.m. It was cold and windy and rain. Tour did not happen

Davis was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable. Tour was quick and the right amount of walking. Well worth it.

Covered some interesting sites. I was especially grateful that the young lady (sorry I didn't get her name to compliment her) spoke loudly and clearly for all us seniors. Made sure every one was following along and understanding the stories.

Nice meeting location at the visitors center for the city. Tour covered many of the historic sites in midtown, and covered both history and contemporary city information. Our guide was a lovely young lady who was easily heard over the sounds of the city.

Aberdeen had a surprising past that we dont read in the guide books and we got a taste on this tour. This walking tour is recommended For example we saw awareness of the past, which was not necessarily pretty and the present .

Aberdeen, Scotland tour from Azamara Pursuit cruiser

On August 9, 2023 our cruise ship docked in Aberdeen. It was not a planned stop. Due to the extremely high winds (up to 52 knots) and waves reaching 6 meters, Captain Antonio changed our itinerary to avoid cruising a long time under the very rough sea conditions. It was still very challenging not only for the passengers, but for the crew as well.
Aberdeen greeted us with sunshine and calm seas. The biggest issue for the cruise management was to arrange shuttle buses for the unplanned stop. So, in the morning we experienced a long wait to get into the shuttle bus for approximately 20 min ride to the Union Square from where we were able on foot easily reach most of the points of interest. Some passengers went direct to the large shopping mall across the street. My wife and I spent couple of hours just easily strolling the Union Street and adjacent streets and returned to the point of shuttle pickup. The shuttle bus with capacity about 50 passengers could not accommodate all people waiting in line and some needed to wait for the next bus. The closer to the cruise departure time, the more people needed to wait due to the limited buses availability. People did not complain and appreciated the unplanned limited bus service arrangement. For ourselves we made decision a long time ago to reach our cruise ships not later than 2 hours prior to cruise departure on any sightseeing not sponsored by the cruise line.
We had another good, albeit not planned stop.

Good Travels

A really good introduction to Aberdeen. Our tour guide, Willow, was very pleasant and welcoming. She was very knowledgeable and was happy to share as we walked at a steady pace around the centre of the city. The route was largely flat and firm underfoot. We enjoyed our introduction to Aberdeen.

Hollie took us around Aberdeen's dark and ghoulish secrets and told us the stories behind the history, politics, debauchery and even some phrases we use in today's language that came from macabre practises on the 16-17 century Scotland. It was fascinating listening to Hollie. Thoroughly recommend her free walking tour!!

Only a small group of five people on the tour, with tour guide Willow who was entertaining and very informative, able to answer everyone’s questions.
The tour took 90 minutes, a nice mix, for us anyway, of history of the city and some street art installations that you wouldn’t necessarily notice.
Absolutely flew by. I’d recommend it.

The guide was very knowledgeable about the art and had worked out a great tour for looking at the street art. She sprinkled in history with the tour. Very interesting. She was laid back and answered questions fully, which we appreciated. Well worth doing!
