Historically, tartan was worn as a practical garment, known as a "plaid" or "great kilt," which could be wrapped around the body and used as a blanket or protection against the weather. Over time, tartan became a significant cultural symbol, especially during the 19th century when it was popularized by the Royal Family.
Peruse the different tartan patterns, learn about the differences between tartan and tweed and how traditional Highland dress is worn today. You'll be impressed by a range of colours, patterns and find out what a Sgian Dhu is?

The Juniper walk on the Glen Tanar estate is a lovely short walk during where half way around, we can pause to admire the view and partake in a toast to Aberdeenshire and Scotland.
