St. Mary's Mud Buggy Experience

This off road buggy driving was fantastic…2 1/2 hours of fun… the most fun you can have on 4 wheels! Surprised just how quickly you get from place to place… one moment seeing English Harbour and then appearing at Rendezvous Bay. Be prepared to get muddy, dusty and filthy… all part of the fun!!

We had the best tour with Sadie and Senya! They were kind enough to do a private tour for us and it was a blast. They took us on a on of cool backroads and cow grazing fields. The views were beautiful and the puddles were crazy fun. The vehicles they use are really nice and easy to operate. They are American set up but you get to drive on the wrong side of the road. The only complaint we had was with the driver they used to pick us up at the cruise terminal and take us back. We found out we were way overcharged. You might want to make alternative arrangements for transportation. He did take us to the most amazing beach bar at Sunset Horizons. It was close to the tour location with an amazing beach and the best Rum Runners ever. Overall we loved it!

My niece 26, my mom 86,myself 62 loved every minute of it !!!!! My mom was smiling ear to ear the whole trip,we did 4 hour tour with lunch at half moon bay ,I’ve been vacationing in Antigua for 15 plus years ,got to see more than you do going on any land tour , through streams back woods hills mud bogs ,rain forest , highways , villages,from the Atlantic to Caribbean Sea ,villages ,churches,,, Betty’s hope ,devils bridge ,bola s Jennings , many many more excellent tour guides , only regret was not stopping for more photos along the way ,,, thank you ladies great day out ,,definitely coming back one more time before we go back to Canada. 20 outa 5 stars worth every penny

So much fun, prepare to get muddy and wet. We've done many excursions like this across the world, but this is by far our favourite! Managed to get up to 60mph too !

Really good and so much fun and yes you do get a little dirty but you get to stop of at a beautiful spot for a swim and it’s just amazing defo worth a try

We had the most exhilarating experience on this excursion! Wow! Not to be missed when you vacay in Antigua. The 3 girls who led the trip were fantastic! Thank you again for one of the most memorable and beautiful experiences!

My favorite part was driving through the town and being greeted by all of the locals. The island is very friendly and the staff is awesome! Beautiful scenery. I Totally recommend this experience.

Great experience. A way to tour around the local city as well as see the beautiful natural scenery. The buggies were everything we expected. Very quick and easy to use. The ladies who took us around were helpful and knowledgeable.

While there was no mud due to no rain it was a great off road experience with lots of dust and dirt! We were the only ones on the tour. We had a guide leading us and an ATV following us with 2 guys. Also stopped at a nice beach.

This tour was great! Google maps took us to the location in Jennings very easily. Upon arrival, we went through safety precautions and a quick course on how to drive the buggy then we were ready to go. The instructor informed us that steering was tight bc many ppl aren’t aware that this is true island buggy not a pre planned course you experience in other touristy countries. With that in mind, everyone was able to drive well. We stalled a couple times but once we turned a corner we learned to drive with both feet and were good to go. We were a group of 8 with ages from 20 into their 50s and everyone had a great time. Some said they felt like they were in a Mario game lol. There wasn’t much mud bc there hasn’t been much rain but it was still great seeing the mountains, pastures, cattle and taking a 20 min dip at sea forth beach. I’ve visited Antigua maybe 8 or so times and it was my first time at that beach. Since you are driving a buggy, the guides can’t call out locations but if you ask on the beach break or after they explained where we visited well. Be prepared that since these buggy’s are on rough terrain, it’s not a luxury vehicle but if you like off roading you’ll have a blast. Guides took our pics, stopped for a mango and even let me drive an ATV when we couldn’t get my buggy going within 5 mins of leaving the beach. I didn’t expect that so I had a double experience. I will definitely do the new ATV Tour when I return. Our group came prepared wearing swim gear, water shoes, shades, head coverings, bandanas on our faces and packed a towel and water in our backpack to tie on the buggy. It’s definitely high energy but thrilling.

After the team got the buggies started we got off to a rough start but as we got used to driving those buggies we had so much fun!!! Come with an open mind ready for fun.

This was a brilliant afternoon out, everyone there was super nice when we arrived, quick to sort the paperwork, the briefing straight forward and the guys that took us out were super friendly making sure everything was all good.

Our buggy was very drivable, some reviews moan, but keep in mind this isn’t a road car with aircon and Apple car play… They’re driven hard daily and so are going to be rugged. The guys were working away maintaining and building new buggies while we were there so people are in for a treat if they book in the future.

If you want seriously fun few hours, bouncing around then book on.

Make sure you have a change of clothes and old shoes.

I went on this tour last week with 5 other people. It was not safe ! There were many things wrong with this trip. The guides were nice but not given much to work with on this tour.
I had read the many different reviews and was hesitant to book it with my friends. We decided to try it because it lookied like it could be fun. We also felt more confident because it had a Viator badge of excellence.
The first thing that is written on the tour description is that everyone has to pay 20 dollar fee for everyone to get to the place. We thought it was because of the distance but found out that it was only a 20 minute ride in a van each way. My group of 6 had to pay 120 dollars. It did not even drop us off or pick us up at the ship. That fee is in addition to the 130 dollar fee for the 2 and 1/2 hours.
We got to the base camp. There was no water/drinks to be sold at the store where we signed our waviers. We read in the description ot the tour that they provided refreshments during a break, so we did not bring any water. The mud buggie tires have little tread, no brakes, and ours stalled if we slowed down to go over rocks. In order to be restarted, the guides used bare ended jumper cables.
There was no mud! They explained after we got there that it is only muddy when it rains, and that hey can not predict that. I have been on other trips where they advertise mud so they flood areas if Mother Nature does not cooperate. Half way through the trip, my friendss wheel came off his vechicle and turned him into a tree. He tried to get out and the vehicle dragged him. He could have gotten seriously hurt. His arm was bleeding and his back was scraped up. The guides in the lead and trail vehicles did not have a first aid kit. There was one offered back at the base camp, an hour after the injuries. We were so thirsty by then that he decided to just clean himself up later and bandage his cuts.
The excursion listing told us that we will see different land marks, however nothing was pointed out or explained during the tour. We drove through little villages, saw a lot of cattle. We stopped twice. When we stopped at the beautiful beach there still was no drink and no explanation of the area unless we asked. Our mouths were dry and caked with the dry dust even though we brought our own jscarfs to cover up our mouths. We returned to the base camp and there still was no water or soft drinks. They did not say anything to us when we got out of the vechicles like "Thank you for coming". So we went to find our driver. We begged our driver to stop to get a drink when we left there. We each gulped down 2 drinks each during the ride back. This tour has a lot of potential to improve. There are great trails and a beautiful beach to explore. Unfortunately, the way that it was run when we went - it was not safe and everyone in our group said they felt it was unsafe and that we were overcharged for what was included. Everyone in the group said they would never do that tour again.

Not at all what we expected. Should’ve read reviews before hand. The guides were nice. The views of the island overall were nice, the best part was the beach. We didn’t realize we would be driving through cow pastures. Machines are run down and broke down at the beginning of our ride, we understand things wear and tear but definitely need TLC/replacing. Not worth the price we paid, would’ve rather spent it else where.

Thrilling experience through the backroads of Antigua! Our family of 4 had a bumpy, blast driving the dune buggies across the hillside lands. Tips: Travel light. We only brought a sack pack with one towel to wipe ourselves down at the end, sunscreen and money and a phone packed in a plastic bag as they would have gotten wet or muddy. Next trip - a go pro camera with a head strap would have been fun to capture everything along the way. It is not a trip that stops along the way. We stopped at two points and our guides took our family picture otherwise non stop driving. We would do it again!

This wasn’t at ALL what I expected and it had us laughing the whole time. We thought ATVs?! These are very low to the ground buggy’s that have you being dragged through mid puddles. I say it like that so you know it’s not for everyone. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing the backroads of Antigua, loved the hidden beach we were taken to and consider this adventure the highlight of our trip.
