Aruba One or Two Tank Scuba Dive

I have been diving with Red Sail Sports for 10 years and they are wonderful. They make sure everybody is ready to get in the water and make it such an easy experience. Danny and Ozzie were both great. I went on a night dive Monday with Ozzie and it was spectacular. There were strings of lights in the water. We saw at least 15 turtles. My dives with Danny were so much fun. I loved doing the drift dive, and the current pushed us along so nicely. Thank you for making such wonderful memories for me.

We opted for the 2 tank dive and were rewarded with an excellent view of a sunken WWII cargo ship and a reef with some remains of an old airplane. We got to see a lot of marine life, including several turtles. The crew was very professional, with the dive master checking all equipment for all divers. He gave explicit easy-to-follow instructions that made the dive safe and fun. I highly recommend these dives to anyone.

Great dive, wonderful staff and boats. First time in Aruba and I am coming back and will dive with Red Sail. I did 2, 2 tank dives and had some of my best diving. We did 2 reff dives a 2 wreck dive. Prices fare and felt in good hands with the staff. Next time going to do a night dive.

My son and I completed our open water cert via an open water referral with Red Sail and its instructor Daniel Guerra. I give it a five star review as the process was five stars from start to finish. It is a very professional operation that made the process easy, the instructor was calm and reassuring and even completing the certification was fun. Highly recommend.

As a professional underwater photographer, I like to work with companies that have large, comfortable dive boats, knowledgeable staff members and friendly crew. I have been diving with Red Sail Sports Aruba for literally decades. There’s nothing better in Aruba.

There were 7 of us on the boat which made for plenty of space gearing up. I could see it being tight if every dive slot was booked. Saw turtles, eels, lobster, and lots of fish. I would have no hesitation diving with them again.

The Redsail diving website would be the only potential area of improvement. It does not reflect which dives are actually going out and there is no way to pay through the website. You have to call or email to sign up.

If I come back to Aruba, I will dive through Redsail again!

The second time in Aruba I dived with this company. Very professional, safe and well organized, from booking to dive and return to hotel. Can not recommend enough.
First double dive was with Manny very helpful, explained dive plan and was never out of view. Pointed out any interesting fish, turtles, rays.
Second double dive was with Ernie and was just as professional and helpful.

A little rough of an outfit and not the best of attitudes from the staff. Not a full service shop. Have to put your own gear on the boat, set up your own gear. Dives are restricted to 40 min max. Not sure if that’s a red sail rule. But never experienced that anywhere else. All divers had plenty of air but dm restricted us to a max. So dove 1 was 38 min including Safety stop. Dove 2 was spot on 40.

My husband and I are advanced divers, with hundreds of dives logged, and have been on dive boats all over the world. This was one of our worst. We never review a dive operator based on what was seen on the dives because truly, dive operators have no control over what you see underwater. However, there were plenty of red flags with this dive operator that had nothing to do with the aquatic availability. We chose Red Sail because it was affiliated with our hotel (Marriott Stellaris), had good reviews, and had dive availability on the days we wanted. The reservation agent I booked with over the phone was AWESOME - super friendly and helpful. We booked two two-tank dives each... one afternoon boat and one morning boat with full equipment rentals. We were instructed to be at the pier 30 minutes ahead, which we were. Another Red Sail sunset sail party boat was lining up at the same time so it was quite hectic. Our dive boat arrived, we saw the crew hanging out, but still we were not allowed to move forward. We waited on the pier for an hour (until past our departure time) before the dive crew called us aboard. In a word, the dive crew was grumpy and obviously did not want to be there. There were only four divers, but the boat captain was still rude and exasperated while we were trying to get our rental gear. Once on the boat, we received no safety briefing or boat orientation. The dive master was super nice but clearly exhausted; he was barely able to do the minimums. No one helped set up our equipment or doublechecked it. We were given a cursory dive briefing but no explanation as to what we might see underwater, etc. One of the other divers, as bewildered as we were, actually asked for dive info and was given a short few-sentence answer. Once in the water we pointed out to the dive master that his tank was venting but he decided it was a small enough leak it didn't matter. My secondary (octopus) wouldn’t stop venting no matter what I did. The dive master grabbed it and slammed it onto the water surface a few times to get it to stop. Another diver who had rented equipment had problems with his BCD. Needless to say, we were not impressed with the condition of the dive equipment when 3 out of 4 divers using rented equipment had issues with it. After the dive, the dive master was the first one out of the water, even though we had a disabled diver in the water with us. This is the first time in my life I have ever seen this. The boat captain took our fins as we handed them up but did not help walk divers back to their slots. No smile, no welcome back to the boat, nothing but a glare. I made the mistake on the second dive of not getting my fins as I walked by. The boat captain literally laid the fins down on the deck rather than bring them over to me. (remember – there were only four divers – it is not as though he was busy). I found the fins myself later.
Our second day of diving was more of the same. We had the same rude boat captain but a new sweet and bubbly dive master. She did give us a safety briefing before the boat left and was much better about communicating during the boat ride. She also gave real dive briefings. Once in the water, my husband experienced an equipment problem (leaking tank – probably bad O-ring) as did another diver in our group who had rented equipment. The visibility was poor on our second dive and we were exploring wrecks so I was surprised at how infrequently the divemaster turned around to pause, count/, and regroup us. I was also surprised to see her grabbing (with gloves, of course) onto coral and pulling herself through the wrecks. Our dive master got separated from two of the divers in our group – again, a first for me. The lost divers were pretty freaked out when we made it back to the boat.
The summary – Red Sail provides many different services. I’m guessing their high ratings are from booze cruises, sunset sails, etc. But when it comes to diving, they fall short. The diving seemed very corporate with overworked and disgruntled employees, shoddy rental equipment, and lax attention to safety. Red Sail diving didn’t even manage the basics and certainly did not provide the full service that should be commiserate with their prices. We will never dive with them again.

I booked the 2 tank dives through the Holland Rotterdam. After a 10 minute bus ride we arrived at the Red Sail dock and were quickly outfitted with necessary dive equipment. The gear was in good shape. Karl was our DM and did a great job keeping us together as well as leading us around the wrecks etc. I felt completely safe on the trip and enjoyed the dives

Red Sail Sports did an excellent job for our 2 tank dive in Aruba. I scheduled it through our cruise ship and we dove 2 different wreck sites. Great guest relations, very helpful and friendly. I especially liked how our dive master conducted the dive in a nice slow paced way to ensure everyone stayed together and saw the different sights that she pointed out. Absolutely recommend them and when I’m back I will work with them again. Thanks again!

Lisa was an amazing teacher, she was patient and explained everything very well. On the dive, she was patient and took the time to make sure everyone was safe, kept her eyes on everyone. She also showed off the different fish, sting rays, turtles, etc.

Make it very clear up front and online that someone could need a medical certificate to dive even if they are previously qualified to dive! Tried to book a refresher course as I hadn't dived for three years and a dive but as I ticked three boxes on the initial application form to dive, those being that I was over 45 (!!!), took prescription medication (just for stomach acid) and had previously had back surgery they said I couldn't dive without a medical examination! I tried to explain I had a medical when I qualified 4 years ago but it wasn't enough. They either wanted a letter from my doctor or I had to go and get examined. I appreciate that diving is dangerous and involves carrying some weight but I'm fit for my age, 59, and wouldn't dare do anything to risk my safety that way. We came here partly so I could dive out here, we certainly won't be coming back.

Spoke with a woman over the phone on a Sunday and booked a two tank scuba dive for the following day, Monday. After receiving the confirmation email I noticed I was booked for the wrong day. I called back, got the date corrected, and we also agreed I would be picked up at 8:15am at the hotel I was staying at. Well no one ever arrived. I repeatedly tried calling them, but their phone was always busy.

If I was to do it over again, I would go with a much smaller scuba dive shop that can give you the attention and customer service.

It was a great experience. I booked them for 3 separate dives. Two 2-tank dives went great and I liked both dive guides. Mrs Ivy was fantastic making all the arrangements. I was not quite happy about last second cancellation on the the third dive. Some type of scheduling error. I was able to book last second with a different shop and ended up on the same dive site with Red Sails boat. They had 2 people for the entire boat. So if I were to guess, someone booked private an entire boat and they cancelled me last second. Whatever, I am not upset as I got my dive in with a different shop and had an amazing experience either way. Anyhow, barring the last second cancellation on one of the dives, I was very happy with this dive op and would dive with them again!

If you are looking for a group of dive masters and staff that are going to hug you and tell you how happy they are that you came to Aruba, this isn't your group. These guys were very professional and serious about what they were doing. They are a very experienced and knowledgeable group but they are not going to offer you Rum punch and a packet of goldish crackers between dives. They do offer some really good diving. I was pleasantly pleased with dives at the Antilles and the Perdinalis. Everything was well choregraphed and the equipment was in good condition. If you want to go on a good dive without all the fluff and glitter that a lot of the other dive operations have, this would be an excellent choice.
