Best Day Ever!
2025-05-04
We had the best girls trip with Captain McKinney! We swam with the pigs, turtles, & snorkeled a beautiful reef and went to a private beach. The rum punch was amazing and we truly had the best day ever!! We would absolutely do this again!
Some Great and Some Bad - but Buyer Beware - they try and get a lot more $$$$ from you. Read On…

The cost of this “Private” excursion is $875. But if it’s a private boat for 4 hours, with multiple stops, it’s worth it.
Here are some components of the experience:
The Captain - We had Captain Lawren who is a great guy and wanted to be helpful and did everything he could do make it enjoyable.
The Driver - SCAM #1 - We were staying at the Atlantis - which is a 5-10 minute drive away from from the hotel, but they don’t tell you that - they tell you that they have relationships with drivers and that the pier is hard to find, and that it will cost $135 for a round trip to and from the hotel. So I paid them separately, bringing the total to $1,010.
It turned out that the Driver WORKS FOR THE TOUR OPERATOR (“BLAST”). And it was just a way for them to make MORE money. The driver seemed to be expecting a tip for the 5-10 minute ride, but I didn’t oblige.
Pig Beach - Athol Island is the island that this tour visits for that. This is NOT the island where the “famous” swimming pigs are - this is a tourist trap Island where they charge you $30 PER PERSON for food for the pigs - which is a cup of diced cantaloupe - and after they demand tips for the people working the Island. It’s a total scam. I was with 6 people so that’s another $180.
Rose Island - it’s a beautiful uninhabited island with one abandoned house that is in disrepair. The water is clear / crystal blue and the kids had a great time there.
Snorkeling with the Turtles - there weren’t a lot of turtles - we saw 2 or 3 of them, and my family doesn’t enjoy snorkeling. The captain though was amazing and tried to maneuver to see as many turtles as possible.
The Boat was at least 30 years old and had an issue that caused the alarm to go off the whole time. At our first stop, the tour company had to switch out the boat.
All in All - I wouldn’t go with this tour provider again. I would dedicate more time to going to the actual island with the pigs and making it a more “professional” trip.

Really fun experience, very recommended. We chose to snorkel (equipment provided), turtle swimming (not located but stumbled upon 1 by chance enroute) and beaching on Rose Island. Lauren(?) did an excellent job!
