Prívate transportation A/C van. GUAITIL CERAMIC POTTERY Guaitil Village known for master artisans of the indigenous Chorotega population, famous for handcrafting beautiful clay pottery, using the same materials, colors and techniques that their ancestors did hundreds of years ago. The Chorotega are believed to have migrated to Costa Rica from farther north after coming into conflict with the Aztecs and Mayans, from both of whom they borrowed pottery-making techniques. This tour explains the process of making pottery from beginning to the end, starting with sand, clay and colored stones and proceeding to shaping, polishing, decorating and burning. The talent and effort required to make these unique products is truly impressive. You’ll have an opportunity to buy pots and other souvenirs from the artisans who made them. TOUR DURATION: 1 Hour
