101 Oliver Rum Tasting & Pairing And Taino Concept Store

Oliver did not communicate with us at all prior to the event. We had to contact them (via our Spanish speaking hotel concierge) to find out where and when they would pick us up. Then, when we arrived at the specified location, we were told our hotel security would not let them through the gate. Our pickup was delayed 50 minutes, which caused us to arrive at Oliver late and miss the beginning of the presentation. The rum tasting itself was OK, but not worth the cost of the excursion.

My husband and I have roots in the DR and this tasting was amazing! Our guide Felix was amazing and very knowledgeable. Viva Quisqueya!

Our presenter was very nice and knowledgeable. They don't skimp on the pours. The shop is huge and you can get all your souvenirs there. Overall great experience!

The experience was nice. Very informative and our host was personable. The run was also good! Having that shop on site was very helpful as well. Was able to buy some souvenirs and some of the rum we sampled. Worth it! (However, it would’ve been free through amstar at our resort but we payed 50/person via bistro ahead of our trip. So keep that in mind)

Shopping was great, you can find everything here. Coffee, chocolate, souvenirs, etc. cute little cafe with sandwiches and treats at the end. And cigars! You can smoke and enjoy a bit of rum also!
Great activity for a casual low key excursion if you are in the mood to shop.

This was an amazing tasting experience
Felix led us through the tasting, initally with a video with the history of Oliver and then onto the tastings

We tried 4 rums of different ages, learnt how to look for tears and to smell before taking a sip! Who knew that eating different things inbetween sips would change how the rum tasted! Cheese and strawberry jam was a revelation but it took the burn away!
Thanks to Felix for opening our eyes to intriguing flavour combinations!

It is a shame that you are not able to buy the Oliver glasses to take home in the main shop - only the rum!

This was a wonderful event very welcoming people and very informative and the rums well what can I say beautiful and so glad we did the pairing you can really see the changes in the rums with the pairing over all a lovely day

That there is so much to learn about rum and a perfect way to enjoy it. You will meet great people to enjoy it with and great instructors and the place is so beautiful

I wish I could remember our host’s name but he was awesome explaining the history of Oliver Rum. The tasting was so educational and interesting and good. I was definitely tipsy leaving lol. Everyone should try this tasting again.
