What You Will Do
Do you want to know in depth the work of Diego Rivera? The SEP, today called Museo vivo del Muralismo is an enclosure with more than 280 murals by the best artists in Mexico.
We'll meet on the first floor of the museum. From there we will walk through the three levels of the building: the first dedicated to trades and traditions, the second to shields, and the third to corrido-poems, and the Russian and Mexican revolution. In each we will analyze Rivera’s pictorial development over the years, as well as the obsessions and fears of the time.
Then we will visit the extension of the building where the giant murals of David Siqueiros lie. These could be listed among the largest murals, in size and importance, in Mexico City.
Finally, we will tour the rooms dedicated to indigenous murals, ceramics, the convent, and reproductions of several important works in modern Mexico.
