The Expiatory Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a Catholic church located in the city of León, in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. Construction of the temple began in 1921, and it was completed in 2012, after several interruptions due to the Mexican Revolution, economic difficulties, and structural problems. The temple was designed in a neo-gothic and it is one of the largest and most ornate churches in Mexico. The interior of the temple is decorated with stained glass windows, paintings, and sculptures, and it is considered a masterpiece of Mexican religious art. The Templo Expiatorio is also known for its impressive organ, which was built in Belgium in 1930 and has more than 7,000 pipes.
