Chichen Itza Early Access Tour with Expert Guide, No Crowds

The early morning limited tour is the way to go! We were picked up on time and returned home around 2pm allowing us more beach time before going home the next day. Our guide was so friendly and knowledgeable about Chit zen itza.
I loved being with a smaller group. The van was a fine. Bathroom breaks were offered several times during the ride. I highly recommend this tour.

It is a very early start to the morning, but it is well worth it! The crowds are lighter and the heat is less awful in the earlier hours (it is still very warm, even early in the day, so dress and pack appropriately). Plan to bring snacks for the bus rides (about 2-2.5 hours), hats and sunscreen, a uv umbrella can be helpful, and LOTS of water! There are additional fees for cameras larger than phones so be ready for that if you travel with a bigger camera. Also, be prepared for the street vendors outside of and within the site. They have some beautiful and interesting items, but I was not expecting the volume of them within such a historical site. The guide we had, Kevin, was incredible! He was knowledgeable, helpful, informative, funny, and kept things entertaining. The info he shared as we arrived on the bus gave us a good context to start, and we made connections to the site during the walking part of the tour. After about an hour on-site with Kevin, we were able to wander around on our own. My only recommendation would have been to provide a map or show us one before we went off on our own so we could have made the most of our time. Our driver, Santos, did a wonderful job on some bumpy roads and through lots of traffic and pedestrians near the site. I would absolutely recommend Amigo Tours - especially Kevin and Santos!

We spent the bulk of our day in a bus with no food or water. We were picked up in Cancun which is only 2.5 hours away from Chichen Itza but the staff made a very strange decision to drop off folks in Playa Del Carmen on our return which added about 4 hours to the trip. We missed our activities back at the resort. This was an incredibly inefficient way to see the sights. One lady on the bus was crying of frustration. 4/22 w Gabriel and Vicente.

Great cultural experience! Santos and Kevin were great. Kevin, the tour guide was very knowledgeable. Explained the history of Mayans & Chichen Itza. We also got to see a Cenote. Many vendors and shops available. Only downside is the long trip while picking everyone form different places. Would suggest different buses for each zone.

Our driver Vincente and tour guide Jorge were kind and wonderful. Jorge was full of knowledge and a great cultural experience. I give this tour 4/5 stars because while it is a small group, it took us about 2hrs30min to just pick up people for the tour and another close to 1hr30min or so to drive to the site. From start at 5:20AM pickup then 2 hours at the site then drive back to hotel drop off for us was close to 3PM and no stop of lunch except pick up snacks on site at Chichen Itza. I would recommend this trip if you only want to see Chichen Itza in early AM before crowds and heat!

Do not use this company!!! Despite numerous emails and WhatsApp messages with them even BEFORE I left the UK, explaining exactly which hotel I was staying in and their explicit confirmation that they knew where I was staying….they didn’t show up to collect me from my hotel. After eventually getting a response hours later (nobody answered phones or responded to WhatsApp at the time), they tried to tell me they had come to the hotel and I wasn’t there even though I had been waiting since 30 mins before pickup time and an hour after. I even sent them google maps locations in advance clearly showing my hotel to which they acknowledged eventually. When I complained about missing out on the highlight of my holiday and my dream to see a natural wonder of the world, their response was simply sorry and your refund will be with you in 7-10 days. Choose another company such as NS Vacation Tours who I had two very successful trips with that holiday! Awful service and very poor communications outside of automated messages and emails,

Before my trip, I researched the numerous available tours you could choose. I was really excited when I found this tour, as at the time, it stated in the what to expect section that there was a second Mayan ruin that you stopped at. I didn’t find out until the tour started that it did not include a second stop, which made me very disappointed as the cost of the tour was similar or more than other tours that included extra activities as well as a lunch buffet. Had the description not stated a second Mayan ruin stop then I would’ve selected a different tour.

I mentioned it to the tour guide, who was very nice, and he told me to reach out to the company afterwards. I did so immediately after the tour and they responded when an hour or two. I thought the response was a bit rude as they basically told me I was wrong and I got everything that I was promised and provided a link from Viator to show the description of the tour. I then responded and provided a link for where I had booked it on Trip Advisor to show that the inaccurate description was STILL posted there. They said they were escalating it to the proper department and that they would get back to me. I thought the company would be happy that I pointed out this discrepancy so that future people would not be disappointed like I was. Instead, I have not gotten a response back since but they have made the effort to change the description in the what to expect section so it is now accurate. I’m glad they did so but I’m very disappointed in their response to me bringing this to light and that they weren’t willing to offer me a partial refund of any amount as a thank you for pointing out the discrepancy…. Or even give a response back (I even emailed a second time to follow up and they have still not responded).

My advice for anyone booking with them would be to make sure you double check what is described and if there is any discrepancies in the description/whats included and the what to expect section then you should reach out ahead of time and verify before actual booking as they don’t seem very willing to help you out afterwards for any mistakes on their part.

This was a very informative tour and we appreciated the time to explore the area. We were glad to have done the early tour to beat the heat and crowds.

This was a great tour for the whole family. My kids were 7 & 11 and found our local guide really entertaining and listened the whole way around to everything. Bear in mind when travelling it is really hot with little shade so advise taking an umbrella for shelter.
Only negative was there isn’t enough time when there to look around there market stalls, we would have like to have purchased some of the crafts available.

Ricardo Cat was an absolutely amazing guide and Carlos, our driver, was fantastic as well. Ricardo is half Mayan and brought such a personal, familial element to the tour that I can’t imagine we would’ve gotten with anyone else. It was well worth the day off the beaten path.

For logistics, as you may have read another reviews, this is a group tour and you need to stop in a lot of places to pick people up. We mentally prepare for this, and we were pleasantly surprised that we were on an extremely comfortable tour bus that made it easy to nap and relax for the ride. We brought an iPad to watch movies on as well, and the time passed quickly.

The bus driver stays with the bus and has it locked to the entire time you were in the site, so you can bring a bag with snacks or an iPad without having to worry about it while you are touring. Because this tour doesn’t include lunch, there is also a snack stand Available when you get there to grab a sandwich and coffee or other drinks. It was more than enough to hold us over until we got back. Drop off on the way back was a lot quicker as well, they broke off half the group into another vehicle before taking us to our final destination which cut the time by quite a bit so we could still have the rest of our day at our resort. We were back by 2:30p!

Don’t forget cash to tip the driver and guide!

Rodrigo was very knowledgeable and truly take pride in his work and Carlos was no different. The professionalism along with enthusiasm kept me thinking and interested. Something not to be missed while visiting the area.

We were looking for a quick, no frills visit to Chichen Itza - and this is exactly that. Everything was organised, the tour guide informative, friendly and interesting. Free time to roam around Chichen Itza which was great. No pushy sales tactics!

However, the travel in the mini van let it down massively. It's a long journey- which is OK as we knew that when we signed up for the trip. But 4+ hours each way, cramped on the back sit of a hot mini bus with 4 other adults was not fun. I was so cramped in the windowless corner that I couldn't even sit back in the chair and had to spend the whole journey slumped forward at an awkward angle, giving me a bad back and shoulders. I'm not often one to complain but the journey was not fun!

I hope I get his name right .. Beto!? Beto is the best! El mejor!!! I’ve done alot of tours during my travels in Latin America but he is definitely one of the best guides and I mean it! Great sense of humor, very informative, and took great care of us. :D

This trip suited me as I really wanted to visit Chichen Itza but didn’t want the added extras of other tours on offer. I was picked up from my hotel at 530am in a comfy air con minibus. Beto, our tour guide for the day was really knowledgeable & shared lots of the Mayan history to help us understand the site better.
I was there long enough to see what I wanted to see & early access really is just that. You arrive there as all the sellers are setting up & leave before the crowds & heat of the day sets in. This is 3hrs both ways in a minivan for 2.5hrs at the site. I chose to come alone & left my husband & daughters in the hotel as it wouldn’t have been their thing. I advise just that. Book this tour if history & seeing one of the seven wonders of the world is for you.

It was a fantastic tour! We felt safe and it was very organized and informative. My husband and I went with our 2 teenagers and we all loved it!
