Then we launch our kayaks and head for a hidden opening in the mangroves at the northern end of the beach. Upon entering the mangroves, we follow a channel for a mile that leads to the Laguna Grande. Wonderful adventure

This felt like a once in a lifetime experience. We were spending only a few days in PR, and this was recommended by an AI-generated three-day itinerary, and it was right on. Fajardo is about an hour car ride from San Juan, and the Uber rides there and back cost more than the tickets for the kayak tour (if I had to do it again, I would have selected an option with transportation, but likely would have had to reserve this more in advance). Some advice to take seriously: expect to be about waste-deep in water when you load onto the kayak, so take their advance warning seriously, especially in regard to footwear.

You will be kayaking (a bit less than per my Garmin watch) a mile to the bay, with overhead hazards (branches), in the dark and following lights on the boat/kayaks ahead of you. It's scary in a true adventure sort of way, but not too bad. The actual experience at the bay is very cool, and the guides were great: providing plenty of information and opportunity to get the most out of our time.

Such a fun experience! I recommend going later to get the full effect of the bio bay. The trip out under the mangroves was really a memorable experience, this trip is a “must do”! Staff did a great job!!

Had an awesome time during the 6:45pm bio tour. I wouldn't recommend going at 8:45pm as there was many low hanging branches and it's difficult to see, the current was also much stronger on the way back than on our way out. The tour guys were funny and also had a great time on the water which is great to see. Be aware of the motored boats going down the same narrow canal causing the motor to get quite close to the kayakers, it was sketchy. Many tour groups at the same time causing many clusters. We were able to see the bioluminescents, very neat and memorable experience.
