Very informative

Make sure you have the full 8 hours to tour the museum if your partner loves to read every tidbit about everything. Don't waste your time going to the Castle portion. There's nothing there but a huge furry hit. Kids will find the museum boring, but will enjoy the interactive science building.
Outstanding Hawai’i Museaum

I’m new to the island so I’m always looking for something to do. I heard about Bishop museum through here.
Anyway, I went to the website to learn more then decided to bring along another couple for the fun of it. We had a blast. The grounds is a decent size so definitely wear comfortable shoes. All the buildings are handicap/ stroller accessible.
On here the ticket prices are higher.
They are cheaper on the Bishop museum website and in person. I purchased mine in person so the other couple could get the military discount which took the ticket price down to $16.00 per adult.
I purchased the family yearly membership so I could come back as much as I wanted.
Parking is $16 however if you’re an Hawai’i resident it’s $8. Members park for free.

If you want to visit the planetarium is free for members, otherwise $3 at the front desk. They do have show times.

The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable.
The grounds were clean, some construction is continuing underway but nothing that would stop you from enjoying yourself. The bathrooms were clean which is a huge plus.

I don’t do public transportation but it is on a bus line.
