Maui Eco-Raft Turtle Snorkel Tour: Semi-Private and Family Fun

Great experience. Our guide, Paul, was great. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. A good time was had by all.

From start to finish, Toni, Peter, and our awesome eco-raft captain made us feel welcome, safe, and prepared. There were only 10 on our afternoon tour - beginners to experienced, young adults to “older” (I’m in my 60s) - and everyone had a great time. Peter was in the water with us pointing out marine life. The turtles were amazing, but my favorite part was when he spotted a baby octopus and dove down to bring him up to share with us. Even better, he safely returned it to its hidey-hole so it didn’t become lunch for a larger fish. I also observed his respect for the reef as he brought several pieces of litter from the ocean floor to be properly discarded.

The ride to and from the snorkeling cove had me smiling ear-to-ear as we bounced on small white caps and felt the ocean spray.

After snorkeling, they served some delicious banana bread, fresh fruit, cookies, and beverages. Then the captain headed back to the harbor.

I enjoyed wonderful conversation with Toni who even suggested a great restaurant near the airport. Thanks, Toni, the crepes and curry were fantastic!

The guides were enthusiastic, knowledgable and respectful of the whales. Wow...our guide knew where to go where there weren't any other boats and ALL the whales! Dolphins too! Such an amazing day on the water. Thank you!

We *highly* recommend this tour company. To begin with, we were due to arrive to our Whale Watch 5 minutes after departure time and called ahead and told them that we were likely to be 5 minutes late. They were very understanding and gave us directions about where to park the car and told us that the boat may have to leave because another one was coming in, but that they'd do their best to hold the boat. A couple minutes after they called us back to say there was a cancellation on the 4:30 pm boat and we could take that tour instead. We were very relieved and very impressed with the customer service in taking the time to call us back and accommodate us by putting us on a later boat. On the baat, the tour guides were happy to answer any questions we had and we always felt welcome to ask. They were very knowledgeable guides. We learned a lot about the whales, why they were near Maui, and about their behavior. The guides made an effort to find good whale watching spots, more than just one and we also listened to whales singing with a mike in the water. My kids (11 and 12 years old) and my husband and I all had a great time and we highly recommend this outfit. We would certainly go with them again!

We did the 2.5 hours snorkel with turtles tour with Darrel and Lexi from Hawaii ocean rafting. The whole tour was amazing!!! After we were fitted with snorkeling gear, we sailed in a raft to the snorkeling area and then Darrel taught all of individually. We were a group of friends snorkeling for the first time and some of us (including me) are non-swimmers. Darrel was a very good, patient snorkeling trainer and made sure we were all comfortable in the water before he moved to the next person. I was able to snorkel for a long time easily, even though I was pretty difficult to train initially. We saw so much coral reefs, several turtles, lots of colorful fishes, schooling fishes, etc. It was so much fun and I really appreciated the cold drinks and light snacks by Lexi after the snorkeling adventure was over. Thank you so much for the memorable trip!

Vinny and Will were really friendly and helpful, and especially Vinny, was extremely thoughtful and caring. Tour itself was great too as there are nice views and wildlife, overall had a nice time!

This was a great experience! Captain Callen was knowledgeable and encouraging. Paul was funny and encouraging. I would hope to join them for a winter trip to see whales some day!

This snorkelling experience was exactly what we were looking for! Got to see lots of turtles, fish, and reefs, as well as some sharks and manta rays. Our guides, Will and Val, were great -- they made it easy for us as first-time snorkelers, and got in the water to show us where to look. I liked having a small group. I'd recommend this excursion to anyone!

If you’re looking for an awesome snorkeling experience look no further. Our guides were awesome. They took time to find a calm area for us to have clear water. We were able to see a lot of cool fish and the reefs were beautiful. They provided beverages (sodas), banana bread and a few other treats. Everyone was very friendly. They even gave us tips for other parts of the island.

This excursion was a disappointment. The weather was questionable so we did not go to Turtletown but went just up the shoreline a few miles to snorkel. Saw a few turtles and fish and then just rode around a while before going back to the drop off point. This was an expensive tour and we definitely did not get what we paid for. Checkout other option before booking this excursion.

We got see plenty of whales late in the season due to knowledge and skill of our crew, Will and Paul. They were attentive, informative and patiently answered all of our questions. I would recommend going with this outfit a thousand times over.

I cannot comment on the actual tours, but have to give a shout-out to how accommodating Hawaii Ocean Rafting was to us. When I originally saw that our scheduled port arrival was not until after all available snorkel tours were due to depart, I contacted Hawaii Ocean Rafting and they offered to delay their departure time by an hour to allow us to make it. I immediately pre-paid for both a snorkel tour and then a later whale watch. Unfortunately, due to a medical emergency we had to cancel our scheduled reservation less than a week out. When I contacted them and explained the situation, they fully refunded our bookings. (We had other scheduled tours on other islands for this trip that were not refunded.) Once we do make it to Maui, I will definitely be reaching out to Hawaii Ocean Rafting again.

Fantastic snorkeling tour on Thanksgiving day. Beautiful coral reefs, amazing tropical fish, dolphins showing off their skills, wonderful swim with majestic sea turtles. Staff was fantastic, couldn't have been a better day!
