Chicago Food Tour!
2025-04-19
Savoring Chicago dishes and learning some history behind it were some of the many surprises in the tour--from learning about how the layer of tomato sauce protects the smooth sausage underneath in a deep-dish pizza to how the hot dogs were sold like hot cakes during the Great Depression, the Secret Food Tours with Sue was a memorable experience! Additionally, learning about Chicago's history through its architecture (like the World's Fair, lightning strike-proofing skyscrapers, and its renovations after the Fire in 1871) provided an educational experience as well. I enjoyed the tour very much.

This tour was set up for us by surprise travel company Pack Up + Go, and they nailed it! This was at the top of my list of favorite Chicago activities during our stay!
Ben was our guide and honestly, he just made the entire tour so interesting and easy going and you could tell how much he loved Chicago!
It felt like a history, architecture and a food tour! We ate so many authentic Chicago foods that we could check off our list, while being shown different buildings like the Harold Washington Library and The Palmer House, that we just loved.
Thanks again Ben! I hope we'll tour Chicago again some day!

My colleague and I came in to the city for work and decided to do a fun tour of the city from a locals perspective.
Ben from Secret Food Tours was extremely knowledgeable and hospitable for our tour! We started at the Harold Washington Library and made our way through the delicious pockets of food across town.
We spent about 3 hours in total talking about the architecture, discussing a little bit about the city, and experienced some surprises along the way.
I would highly recommend attending this - and ask for Ben for your tour!
