In-depth, great storytelling

Absolutely fantastic tour! For some added context: I'm not a Raleigh native, and I decided to take my grandmother here while she was in town. Both of us gained so much! The route we took was walkable and very accessible, which my grandmother really appreciated. The guide also did an excellent job presenting the material. The two main "goals" of this tour involved 1) introducing laymen to some architectural history, walking through some terms and styles, 2) telling the stories behind each building. Andy moved between the two seamlessly, explaining things clearly and in a super engaging way. He's also very open to questions if there's something you need clarified or if there's anything else you'd want to know!

The tour also touched on broader discussions concerning Raleigh's past and future, stressing the importance of preservation. I won't spoil anything, but my grandmother and I definitely came away with a renewed appreciation for Raleigh's historical buildings — from the seemingly nondescript ones you might not give a second glance or strange, eclectic buildings with mysterious origins — because there was a real chance that none of them would have been left standing today!

I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone in the area — just be sure you have some type of street parking in mind.
