Sunset Sail Tour

On August 20,2023 at 5:30pm we boarded Jim’s world traveled, one of a kind sailboat and set sail. Doug and I were two of six excited and happy passengers along with our captain Jim and his wife Deb. The weather was perfect, skies clear,swells low with beautiful hue to the ocean and cool, pleasant wind speed of 10-15 knots. Conversation was lively and enjoyable. We shared much about our lives and found we had experiences in common. It was my first sail. It was exhilarating, peaceful,calming,delightful,refreshing…I wanted to remain on the ocean, sailing. The sunset was breathtaking, spectacular. “ I must go down to the seas again…all I ask is a tall ship….the wheels kick, the wind’s song, white sails shaking…” Highly recommend this sailing adventure with Jim.

We have a wonderful sail out on Shamrock. Knowledgeable and super friendly Capitan, beautiful boat, and a great evening. I could not recommend it more!

Captain Jim and Debbie were extremely knowledgeable about North Carolina waterways, history and wildlife. They were extremely engaging and professional. We were lucky enough to have picked a perfect day for a sail.

Jim's storytelling was great. It very well complemented the cruise/tour. I definitely recommend it to everyone who is looking to spend a couple of good hours relaxing and learning about the area.

Captain Jim does a great job hosting up to 8 guests on his motorized sailcraft. Don't worry, you will NOT sit below deck, but you will sit on the front bow or on the outside seat cushions in the back by the steering wheel. Captain Jim is very knowledgeable about sailing and the history of the coast. Some advice, bring a windbreaker in May or September, summer you should be fine in shorts and a short-sleeved shirt. They serve cold water bottles on board. Arrive early to get preferred seating. The least favored seats on the cushions on the right side of the boat by the rear steering wheel; this is because he sails/motors on the right side of waterway up and back, which means the right side of the boat is closest to the good views of the architecture along the shore, and you don't want your back to the right side of the boat. If you tour during the day, you are going to get more sun on the bow of the boat, so where ever you sit, wear lots of sunscreen during the day tour at 2:00. The tour will take 2 hours. The scenery is lovely and the tour captain is very knowledgeable. If want to hear the stories, sit on the back cushions with captain Jim, and the best seats there are the cushions on the left side of the craft. Enjoy your trip.

We were given the wrong address in the booking and were told to call a number upon arrival 15 mins prior to the start of the tour. The boat never showed up and our calls led to a voice mail. No call back and no response to the message sent via TripAdvisor. So no chance to get in touch to actually find out that the boat was going to depart from a different place other than indicated in the booking.
My favorite one yet: I was told by Shamrock Sailing Adventure that I should have called sooner. Well I did! That was only when I left a message!

Captain Jim has a beautiful vessel and we were honored to be able to enjoy an evening on the water even though it was a bit chilly. Our girls enjoyed the waterway and the history that he shared.

Booked a sailing trip after reading great reviews - we were not disappointed! The weather was perfect and it was smooth sailing topped off with a gorgeous sunset. Jim was full of historical information regarding the Wilmington, NC area. We saw dolphin up close, lots of jellyfish swimming and osprey flying overhead. Our group had a wonderful and relaxing time - we hope to go again!

An experience we will never forget! My fiancé and I got engaged during a sunset cruise, and got to see Wilmington NC and it’s costal wildlife, while visiting this year. Captain Jim went above and beyond to make our experience one we will always cherish! I recommend this trip to anyone who wants to enjoy the beautiful sights of Wrightsville beach, and it’s costal life, while watching the sunset!

We had such a great time on the sunset sail! We were at the beach for our anniversary and this sail was such a perfect ending to our trip. It was both of our first time ever sailing and Captain Jim was so kind and is extremely knowledgeable about the history and wildlife of the area - it was a real pleasure listening to all of his stories and he made us feel very comfortable and in good hands. 10/10 would do again for sure!

We thoroughly enjoyed this Sunset Sailing Adventure! It was calm, beautiful and Captain Jim spoke of the history and wildlife wildlife as we sailed. It was one of the best adventures I've had in the area, and I've lived here 16 years!

We had a great time sailing with Captain Jim along the intercostal and seeing our shoreline from a new and unique prospective. We were treated to beautiful natural and protected areas with lots of native wildlife. There were 3 couples onboard plus Cptn. Jim and his wife and there was plenty of room. We all sipped champagne as we watched the sensational sunset on our way back.

Excellent way to spend an afternoon or day outside. Captain Jim and his wife are super friendly. The two hour sail and experience in the water is phenomenal. Experience Wilmington from a different perspective.
