The sunset kayak tour of Shem Creek was amazing! Jackie and MJ were our tour guides. It was my first time ever kayaking and they made me feel so comfortable and made the experience so enjoyable. Their knowledge of all the wildlife around Shem Creek was an added bonus to the amazing views. Overall, I couldn’t have asked for better tour guides or a better overall experience with Coastal Expeditions!

This was our first time doing a kayak tour and our guides MJ and Jackie were the best! So patient and always giving tips and explaining things from start to finish. We had an awesome time!

We did the sunset tour with Jackie and MC and they were AMAZING!!! We were pretty nervous as we were not experienced at all, and they made us feel super comfortable and reassured us throughout the entire experience. They break down everything before entering the water and were super patient with any questions and instruction before and during the tour. We had a really calm night, so the cruise was very peaceful, and the sunset view was awesome. We saw dolphins up close, and the guides pointed out wildlife and history. This is a great experience whether you are visiting Charleston or live here. 10/10 would recommend!!!!!

We did the sunset kayaking tour and it was awesome. Jackie and MC were the best tour guides and very knowledgeable when giving facts about the local area and the wildlife we saw along the way. We saw a dolphin and some local shore birds up close. There was a little training session at the beginning and they make you feel really comfortable before going out, even if you’ve never kayaked before. They even had dry bags for our phones. No one fell in!

My teenage daughters and I had a great time on this kayak trip. Our guides were very thorough in preparing us how to kayak (even though we'd been before this is a great trip for beginners) and it was a full service experience--they loaded the kayaks in and out of the water which made it so easy. Our guides were kind and super knowledgeable about all of the natural sights (so many pelicans, birds and mother/baby dolphins) and about Charleston as well. It was such a fun experience and I'd highly recommend this outfitter.

My family group of 3 absolutely loved our time on the water with Coastal Expeditions in April. Our guides were knowledgeable, skilled, reassuring, and always encouraging, especially when we needed to listen carefully to instructions and navigate the busier parts of Shem Creek. It was the most relaxing 3 hours of my spring break in Charleston (despite the excellent physical workout!), and I look forward to booking more trips with CE in the future.

Our family had a great time kayaking on Shem Creek. Our guide, Tayt, was an expert on wildlife and could answer all our questions.

My family, friends, and I had a lovely excursion with Chance and Reagan. They were friendly and knowledgeable. The kayaks were so easy to maneuver - thank goodness for the rudder pedals! - and we had no trouble paddling Shem Creek and into Charleston Harbor.

We perhaps had unrealistic expectations. We thought that the tour was an “eco” tour, but we may not have fully read the tour description. I would definitely take another trip with Coastal Expeditions.

Definitely the highlight of our trip. Our guide Abbi gave just enough info pretrial and taught more about paddling and the wildlife as we kayaked upstream. Gave us a good overview of shrimping, birds, the ecosystem of the creek full of oyster beds. She was delightful and made it so fun for me and the teenagers. We saw a young Little Blue Heron, Great Blue Heron in full mating plumage, oyster catchers,…. pelicans and later on the board walk saw dolphins.

I did the 2-hour Shem Creek kayak tour with my 14-year-old son. It was PERFECT! Our guides were phenomenal (Morgan and Regan) - they were incredibly knowledgeable about the marine wildlife, they were personable/friendly, professional, and they even made the "safety talk" fun before we launched. The paddle itself was pretty relaxing, I didn't feel like we exerted a lot of energy, which was nice. We went out to the harbor, and there was virtually no wind. We saw different types of egrets, a heron, turtles, oysters, cormorants, dolphins, and probably more that I'm forgetting :) I highly recommend this tour, and I would go again next time I'm in Charleston!

We had an outstanding time kayaking with Tayte! The weather was gorgeous, the water was serene and we enjoyed the wildlife, including dolphins! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, kind and made our whole crew feel like we were in safe hands. Highlight of our trip!

Great time on the water kayaking! MC was a great guide and was very knowledgeable. Unfortunately did not see any dolphins but saw a few different birds.

Had an amazing time at Shem creek kayak tour.
From the get go we were lucky to see dolphins throughout the tour. One even popped up right next to our kayak and made our day!
Our guide was Logan and he was great and great with my son.
I will definitely be back to do another.

The tour was amazing and our guide, Nathan, was friendly, a great kayaking teacher, and very knowledgeable about the creek. I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested and it is very manageable for anyone new to kayaking.

The Harbor Cruise was fun even though is was chilly on the water and our course had to be changed(at my request) because of the wind and choppy water. The captain and his crew were professional, informative and made sure everyone was comfortable. We all enjoyed it and will do again when weather is better.
We also rented their venue area for a party after the cruise.
The guests had a good time and loved the views of Shem Creek but the assistance from staff was lacking for this part of my event. Set up for the party and assistance for the caterer was to be done while we were on the cruise. It was offered when plans were made and discussed again on my arrival. Unfortunately it did not happen. Some of my guests had to set up and assist caterer. Tables and chairs were to be available, most of the tables were broken and very few chairs were provided. (good thing I had arranged some rentals). Staff had to be asked several times for assistance.
The pictures on their site of the venue were not at all what was provided for my party.
