Memphis Hop On and Hop Off Tour

The drivers were very polite and helpful with all the stops we made they were very knowledgeable about the tours and directions for where to go

The bus driver/tour guide was knowledgeable and the sites of the tour were interesting. The downside was that if you got off the bus it didn’t return for 1 1/2 hours. That was too much time for most of the venues.

We appreciated the flexibility of our driver, but this was basically an expensive shuttle service. Normally, hop on, hop off services provide commentary on the city, its landmarks etc. there was none of that. We paid $80 for transportation to 2 sites.

This is the worst hop on hop off experience our family of four adults has ever had in our years of traveling. We were told by a music business next door they go past at 1020am. We paid $25 for parking nearby and waited from 10am. At 1040 another couple waiting rang and were told he was running late, very late.
We were picked up by a lovely man in a very old bus that had no air and riddled with exhaust fumes. The PA system wasn’t working so he had to shout. Nor could he change from hot to cold to give us air. The emergency window was broken on one side so it rattled loudly and let more fumes in. We have a feeling it is a family business and Dad was brought in to cover a driver that didn’t turn up. The whole experience was so disorganised and not worth the USD $40 each. Would not recommend. Driver was so lovely and apologetic and was very knowledgeable but thru need to get it all together properly,

I wish more emphasis was on the Lorraine Hotel site. The driver just mentioned it as “matter of factly”. With the turbulent time of the 60s and for a person who changed the world that was significant. Also why did you have the place where Dr. King give his last speech?
But all in all I enjoyed it.

Taking the Memphis city bus tour is a wonderful way to see the major attractions of the city. Hopping on and off a bus that is reliable and comfortable with a guide who’s telling you things about the city that you would never know by just driving yourself gives you information and comfort you would not have facing traffic and driving yourself. My tour was extraordinary. I started the tour early in the day with a guide named Evelyn and was the only one on the bus for a part of the trip. Evelyn and I were able to talk and I had lots of questions that she answered with factual information about the city and the culture she has lived in has lived in for 75 years. I felt fortunate that she was willing and able to talk about the history as well as the structures on the street. I learned so much and enjoyed my trip. I got off at the Civil Rights Museum where I spent a couple of hours in that outstanding place.

By far my best experience in Memphis. Ms. Evelyn was our guide and I learned so much being my first time in TN. She was funny, kind and so knowledgeable. Would definately do this tour again but only with Evelyn.

AS an FYI, this is not a traditional Hop-On Hop-Off experience. There is one mini-bus only, so it only loops around every 1.5 hours. There really isnt enough to do at the stops, except Graceland, to warrant staying that long. There was a lot of driving and not that much information, except at the actual spots. We opted to just do the loop around and call it. Also, they dont tell you that while tours start at 10:00, if you go to the place where you have to redeem your tickets, you wont get another bus for 1.5 hours. Our bus was also going out of service at 3:00 for the day. All of this would have been very nice to know ahead of time. They offered us a free coupon for the next day when we arrived but we were leaving the next day. That being said, the women in the office were very nice and asked the bus driver to come back and get us, which she did so we only had to wait 30 minutes. Also, at the end we were the only ones on the bus and since we did the tour kind of out of order, we asked if she could drop us back where we started so we didnt have to loop around for another hour. She kindly agreed to that. All in all, tour guide, staff were very nice. At $40 the tour was totally not worth it.

The time between pickup times between stops was to long. Too little information given between stops regarding Memphis.

The bus was a rattling mess. It jarred us too much! And this was on city streets. That bus needs to be retired.
The driver was nice, but had too few observations.
AND, the bus needs a PA system…couldn’t hear half of what little she said.

This was the absolute best tour! Our guide, Cecil, was informative, funny, and a wonderful performer. He played and sang so many songs that we didn’t want the tour to end! Highly recommend this experience.

Our tour master, Ms Evelyn, was amazing. She was knowledgeable and funny. We enjoyed all the sites and learned so much about the city during our short visit.

We got on at graceland at 1:20,and got off at blues hall of fame at 1:45ish. Didn't get back on again. $80 for a ride to the arcade from graceland. Bummer.

A great way to decide what you want to see if you aren't sure. Evelyn was a delightful tour guide. We enjoyed the experience!

It took me a few days to choose an activity but I’m so glad that I chose this tour. You’re given a schedule of places to visit and enough time to explore each place. It was a great experience with an awesome driver, Ms. Evelyn.

Our tour/bus driver was excellent and very knowledgeable. However, it's not a typical hop on/off bus tour
The buses come by every 90 minutes so if you get off at a stop, you better be planning on taking a tour. We had to walk pretty far to get our ticket. It was the only stop where you could get it (near Sun Studios). It also has a short operating time 10am to 5:30 pm at Graceland.

Learning more about Memphis 'Home of the Blues' Tenn was very informative and appreciated. Ms. Evelyn was a great tour guide as we made our way through historical landmarks. I would recommend this tour, especially if you're visiting for the first time.
