DO NOT DO ZOO LIGHTS
(tripadvisor)
2023-11-27
DO NOT do the Zoo Lights. I am so angry and disappointed. There are 6 of us and our kids are considered by zoo age adults, so it was $200 to walk in the door. We wanted to see Polar Express 4D but out of 3 people working there, no one could tell me anything more that the website says. They are showing 2 movies and we wanted to do Polar Express 4D. When I asked if they were showing it that night or how do I guarantee that is the one that we see, we were told that this is not their department and either buy tickets and see whatever is showing when you get there or just dont buy them at all. Honestly that should have been my sign to exit this place. I pay $200 for admission and forgo the movie. When we got to the theater area, no one was working it. I guess they would have kept that money too.

We walked into a makeshift tube slide, which is nice, but the placement is so poor that you can not get around it. Nowhere does it say if it cost extra. We squeezed past the people and see small bouncy houses, a petting zoo that costs an additional $5, a pick a present for an additional $5, zoo merch shops and only 3 make shift trees lit up. One played the Eye of the Tiger, how Xmasy is that? Only a handful of real trees are decorated. Several fence posts are decorated. The same fish, tiger, giraffe and hippo from previous years are there and lit. And..then there was some Atari arcade looking thing going on that no one knew what it was. Several animals were not lit up or just did not work. This was the worst that I have seen from this place.

The Kiddie Park was of course going, for an extra fee- which is ok but my kids are too old and the rides look like a dump. We came to see lights. We did not get our moneys worth and it looks like it is less lights than previous years. They concentrated in some areas while others were left dark. There was not really any music going thru the place. Not festive food was served. We walked into the bathroom and vomit was all over the stall. The 2nd bathroom we tried, the soap dispenser doesnt work and the sink needs a massive bleaching.

This was a massive let down. My future zookeeper was so excited and disappointed to see that the same animals for the petting zoo that you see everyday for free were an additional $5. The cost to do zoo lights is the same cost as seeing the zoo during the day. If you are smart and just feel the need to do this, go about 3 and see the zoo. Then re-walk to see the lights, but that really is a waste of time since nothing light wise is worth seeing here. I will never do zoo lights again. Save your money and go to Houston zoo lights. They've got lights, lanterns, food and all things galore. Houston is worth it, SA is not. SA ZOO y'all have no business asking us to vote for you for #1 zoo lights. Y'all should be ashamed of this product.

Horrible Zoo Lights

Zoo lights are a total waste of money. You should just donate to the animals and save your time, hardly any lights, nothing open, totally boring. $92 later what a waste!
