Richmond Downtown Walking Tour

Our guide was knowledgeable about the history but not about the history's connection to the present and seemed more interested in speed than in assuring attendees had a full educational experience. (In 90 min. there were 2 bathroom breaks but no time to read historical markers or to take pictures without falling behind.) She chose to hold rather than wear the mic; it often was too far from her mouth, making it even more difficult to hear through the poor-quality earbuds. This was not a $38/person experience, let alone a $150+ experience for our family.

Jason was great, had a lot of background knowledge of the areas we toured. It would have been nice to have the headsets, if you weren't right beside him difficult to hear above traffic noise. Thoroughly enjoy it!

Erin, our guide, was great - laid back and knowledgeable with fun historical stories and tips for your stay in Richmond. We definitely recommend this downtown tour and if you are lucky Erin will be your guide.

We were very excited to take the Richmond downtown walking tour! We were looking forward to the rich history and connecting with the locals. Unfortunately, a guy never showed up. We were waiting 30 minutes I had texted I had called and there was still no guide to take us on our trip.

Leisurely walk in the rain but infinitely interesting and knowledgeable tour guide. Jason was well versed on each of the areas in the city and had a great way of describing the history.

No one showed up and the 6 people in the group started our own walking tour. Richmond TourGuys did not answer the phone but generated worthless AI texts that were never responded to.

My Richmond walking tour with Kathy was wonderful! It was my first time visiting Richmond, so I was interested in an overview of the area, but also a tour with specific insights and points I wouldn’t find elsewhere. That's exactly what Kathy gave me. A native Richmonder, she highlighted specific buildings and neighborhoods and gave me an idea of what the city was like in the past. This history and architecture buff enjoyed it all. And Kathy has a great, welcoming, and very friendly personality. Well done! Five stars.

Mett your guide outside the building. Give yourself time for parking - it was not where I had expected and had to park in a ramp 2 blocks away.

Kathy was a great tour guide she provided a great mix of the good, bad and the ugly of Richmond’s checkered past, and since we wanted to know about the African American history too, she made sure to highlight their accomplishments and contributions to the city’s growth and prosperity. We had our four year old daughter and we appreciated her patience as she can be a handful, especially in the heat. This tour really did help us understand the history and see first hand how Richmond became the Richmond we see today. Thank you and I highly recommend her and the tour.
