What You Will Do

Colonial Williamsburg is often times associated with the Revolutionary War era,, but the old capital city is home to many civil war related sites as well. On May 5, 1862, approximately 70,000 union and confederate soldiers clashed at the Battle of Williamsburg. Remnants of that bloody struggle linger to this day. A nighttime stroll along Duke of Gloucester Street will reveal headquarters, Barracks, arsenal’s, hospitals, morgues and some say even Ghosts!

Meeting Point

Parking is at 460 East Francis Street ( Kings Arms Tavern Parking Lot) Walk out the exit across Francis Street onto Blair Street and you will see your guide up ahead in the circle in front of the Capitol building .

Colonial Williamsburg Capitol Building

Take a leisurely nighttime stroll down the Haunted Duke of Gloucester Street while listening to your very own experienced costumed guide tell the tales of the Battle of Williamsburg while learning fascinating history and Ghostly encounters ! Hear how the men and women of our town endured the occupation of the union soldiers and how surgeons had to make life and death decisions to save their patients. Take pictures as you walk past the morgue and see if you get any ghostly images, This is a captivating experience like none other learn how the Civil War shaped hour, our country ! Will you capture apparitions of ghostly activity as you take pictures of the buildings ?
