What You Will Do
Escape tourist agencies and discover Buenos Aires from an anthropological point of view. Do not expect to just walk and listen: be prepared to talk, ask questions, taste mate, and discuss the past, present, and future of Argentina’s capital.
Beginning at the Rapanuí Store and ending at Recoleta Cementery, this walk offers you the chance to explore this beautiful city through its historical past in an attempt to understand its present.
Why was Buenos Aires called the ‘Paris of South America’? Who ‘inhabits’ the Recoleta Cemetery, and what mysteries does it contain? What was the ‘Belle Époque,’ and how did it change the city? What was the role of large landowners in the development of the country? Was Argentina really a global economic power?
These are just some of the many questions we will try to answer on our walk through the most aristocratic part of town.
