Private Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral Tour from Bogotá

Great tour! My guide was extremely knowledgeable of the history of the Cathedral. Great short tour of the city as well

It was an incredible experience to witness this beauty. Circa 30 meters underground, they have built a Cathedral made of SALT. Can you believe it? Included in the ticket you can profit from the company of a guided tour, in Spanish or English. Then you join a group of tourists and you will walk through many tunnels with 12 stations, depicting Jesus Christ's crucifixion process. the whole experience takes about 2 hours and it is unforgettable. From Bogota, you can hire a Taxi cab, or a Uber driver to take you to Zipaquirá town, 1 hour from Bogota, approximately. It is a must-do activity!!!

I booked late Sunday and was picked up at 8:00 am (ish) Monday morning. Impulse travel responded very rapidly on WhatsApp to my request to confirm pickup spot (as they ask you to do). I sent emails and then used the mobile number to connect via WhatsApp which worked splendidly. The guide, Emilio, has very good English, is very knowledgeable about Colombian history and world events and, of course, about the history of the salt Cathedral. He also reads and studies more to learn more and constantly improve at his job. on the way to the site he gave me a course in Colombian history. Juan is an excellent driver. Safe, polite and friendly. He lets other vehicles in when it is appropriate, Lets people cross the street and gets you there and back just as quickly and, most importantly, safely. Thank you. I enjoyed the tour and will tell others.

It’s ok, didn’t do it for me, some people love it clearly but i thought it was underwhelming.
It’s well presented etc but it’s a big hole in the mountain that has individual chapels and nice lighting in places but i would have found a working salt mine far more interesting. If i knew what i knew now i wouldn’t spend 1.5 hours in traffic each way to see it.

Raul was an awesome guide during the trip and in the mines and gave us a lot of insight. Highly recommend.

I came into this expecting to be struck with awe in the depths of the earth, but the only amazing thing about the Salt Cathedral is that it was built underground. Apart from that, you walk down an endless way of the cross (the first cross is impressive, the others are all the same) and eventually reach the cathedral itself, which is packed with people and only made up of a couple rooms with coloured lighting and an extensive gift shop. Would not recommend unless you are a christian yourself and extremely moved by cathedrals.

The visit to Cathedral was incredible, it was interesting and entertaining. You have to allocate at least 3 hours to just do the basic tour , if you are the individual who likes to explore and visit everywhere , get details of the mine, go to the museums , taking your time to drink a coffee and a snack . It can easily be a whole day event .
We ate at a restaurant outside the cathedral , it was very well priced, food was good and the people were very friendly .
The whole family enjoyed the trip, it was sunny and it wasn't cold, a light jacket would do .

Tour guide was on time, vehicle was comfortable and the guide was friendly and knowledgable. If you have limited time in Bogota it eats a lot of it for just an average tourist destination in my opinion. But if you decide to go, Impulse was a good option.

This place is spectacular. Whether you fancy yourself a religious person or not, this is a place that everyone should see at least once.

The Salt Cathedral is amazing! We had enjoyed our half day with our fabulous tour guide - Andres, She is informative and attentive, we had a wonderful time with her. A long but interesting walk through the salt mines to reach tha amazing cathedral. Old and younger in the family were excited by this very different journey

We really enjoyed this tour. There are some attractions I believe really benefit from a guide and this was one of them. Not being religious, it was fascinating to have this explained to us.
The cathedral is both spectacular and beautiful. I loved the carvings the atmosphere and the sheer scale of it all.
The hotel pick up and drop off was super convenient.

A wonderful introduction to Bogota and its surroundings. Our guide, Jorge, was so enthusiastic, passionate and helpful. The half day guided tour to Zipaquira was really well organised and very interesting, and this was followed by a delicious lunch with our guide in town. On the way back to Bogota- Jorge continued to impress with recommendations for food, drink and sightseeing across the city. Can't recommend highly enough.
