Plaza Matriz

The Plaza de la Constitución or Plaza Matriz is located in the historic center of the old city of Montevideo.
It was the central square of the old fortress city of San Felipe and Santiago de Montevideo, in this square the independence of Uruguay as a country was declared. The metropolitan cathedral is also located in this square.
It is one of the places with the greatest movement of tourists and cultural spaces in the entire city of Montevideo.

Plaza Independencia

The Plaza Independencia is the central and most important square of the city of Montevideo, in Uruguay, it is located in the center of the city, in the space that was the entrance to the old fortified city of Montevideo.

Palacio Legislativo

Estadio Centenario

It is the stadium with the largest capacity in Uruguay and one of the 15 largest in America. On July 18, 1983, it was declared by FIFA as a Historical Monument of World Soccer, being the only construction of its kind in the world.
The first Soccer World Cup of 1930 was played in this stadium.

Parque Batlle

There are the Centenario Stadium, the Luis Méndez Piana Park Stadium, the Palermo Park Stadium, the Darwin Piñeyrúa Athletics Track and the Municipal Velodrome.
The park is an ideal place to walk, hike or exercise and enjoy the fresh air provided by the wooded area. Near the Centennial Stadium is the La Carreta monument, the work of the sculptor José Belloni.
